Today is my last day at work. I’m so excited that I have to say it again, only this time I’m gonna yell it: today is my last day at work.
I have the next 3 weeks off. School begins January 7th. I’ll be working (here) two days a week; Tues & Thurs.
My mom is in town for the Christmas season. Our goal is to be as chill as possible.
Call us unoriginal or cliche, that’s fine. Here’s a list of the movies that we’ll be watching:
Will Ferrell. Enough said.
Does anybody else want to celebrate when Ralphie beats up that red-headed bully?
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
One of my all-time favorite movies. Our family can pretty much quote the entire movie. Want to buy me a Christmas present? Go here.

The new Will Smith movie. I don’t know a whole lot about it other than the fact that Will Smith is in it (which pretty much guarantees that it’ll be good). Anybody see it yet?
Yes, I know this isn’t a movie…it’s a TV series. This show (mind you that I had never seen it prior to 3 weeks ago) has quickly become one of my favorite shows ever. I’ve watched every episode made thanks to Netflix. Yep, it only took me 3 weeks. Dwight Schrute for president!

I’ve read the book that the movie I Am Legend (Richard Matheson) is based on. It is an excellent book, really amazing, it is probably one of my top 5 books of all time.
I have yet to see the movie, which I will also be doing over the holidays. I’m very a-scared. If they do it right it will probably not be well received by the public because it is not an action movie although the previews lead you in that direction. I mean I can see where you could have action parts but overall the movie shouldn’t be an action movie.
In fact, the overall feeling of this movie should be utter despair, silence, and loneliness. I know I’m making a whole bunch of judgments about a movie that I should just go see and shut up already. But I am just so afraid they mangled the original story. I like Will Smith as an actor and I’m sure he does just fine in this movie but he can’t be held responsible for a poorly adapted screenplay.
I’ll shutup but I would be interested, Bill, in what you think of the movie if you see it. I always find it interesting when you talk to people who come at a movie/book from different angles.
You have someone like me who have read the book and then see the movie. And almost always never like the movie because… [fill in the blank].
You have someone who will see the movie and then read the book. My father’s doing this right now and really liked the movie. I told him he wasn’t allowed to talk to me about it but he keeps being a punk and dropping little hints about things.
You better not see any of these movies without me!!
Skeptigator,
I’m a big fan of the novel I Am Legend myself. Althought I have not seen the movie, I have read enough reviews to feel safe in saying that it deviates wildly from the book.
Bill,
With all due respect, did you ever see Wild Wild West?
:d
I just had a comment…I don’t know if it went through or not before my Internet went funky…so I’ll re-say something.
I saw I Am Legend…and hated it.
The story line is boring, I had no idea where it was going, and the ending was disappointing.
The only good part was that I walked away with the quote “light up the darkness” which has given me much to think about as to how I could light up the darkness.
The movie seemed to be a mixture of Cast Away and Signs, and I just wasn’t a fan of it…if you see it, let us know what you thought!
@Skeptigator…I’ll let you know what I think. I’ve never been a huge reader (until lately), but I’ve definitely heard the “it wasn’t as good as the book” comment before.
@Tiffany…I know better
@Odgie…haha, good point. Very good point.
@Ashley…I couldn’t stand CastAway. I hated Signs. I smell a disappointment! Thanks for the heads up. lol
Have a wonderful Christmas, Bill!
Merry Christmas Bill! Check out “inworship” blog he wrote a post on “I am Legend” without spoiling the ending…I am a huge fan of the Christmas story movie! Love Ralphie, the flagpole, redrider BB gun..and yea the way the bully gets his butt kicked!
Elf= awesome!
But I still never understood the perceived greatness of The Office.
“Over the years I got to be quite a connoisseur of soap. Though my personal preference was for Lux, I found that Palmolive had a nice, piquant after-dinner flavor - heavy, but with a touch of mellow smoothness.”:d
Christmas Vacation! Greatest Christmas movie Ever!
Skep, Odgie, Ashley - I am Legend the movie is absolutely nothing like the book. Most people who have read and enjoyed the book, hated the movie, especially the ending, but I thought that was the best part
Of course, I am a little biased…
AND…
Merry Christmas everyone!
I LOVE the movie Elf. Especially where he gets so excited and shouts, “I know him! I know him!”
I loved I Am Legend! Love Elf! Love The Office…REALYY love The Office!
Bill, have a great break! You deserve it! Enjoy and Merry, Merry Christmas!!!
Merry Christmas everyone!
Are you one of my in-laws?! We watch National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation every year and know all the lines. We like Elf, too (”He’s an angry elf.”).
And we just had an Office-fest the last few days, watching most of seasons 1 and 2.
Merry Christmas!
