Bill tells me that Fridays are supposed to be relaxed on Friendly Christian. So on this casual-dress-Friday I figured I’d talk about something fun and easy…saving the planet!

I found a list of “practical suggestions for living more simply” with the goal of improving our world: reducing our environmental footprint, saving money in order to have more income to support social causes, and enjoying a more fulfilling existence. I’ll get to the list in just a minute. But I thought it would be fun to hear your takes on this list through your comments…

  • First, which points do you agree or disagree with?
  • What would you add or take away?
  • Does it even matter (”going green” or living more simply)?
  • How well do Christians measure up on these suggestions?
  • How would you save the planet?
  • And finally, where did I pull the list from? (No cheating; don’t Google the text!) Are these talking points from the Sierra Club? Al Gore? Dave Ramsey?

Is Faith Nonsense?

This is a strange question coming from a missionary. But it’s a question that I’ve wrestled with many times in my life — even as I’m serving in a mission field thousands of miles from my comfortable, low-risk life in the United States. I think, What am I doing here? Is this life that I’ve chosen really worth it? And I know I’m not the only one who wonders…
