Bill, I’m shocked. You’ve still got Christmas lights up.
As for the content I’d have to say that unless you challenge yourself and take risks where you may “seem like a complete idiot and fall flat on your face” you will always feel that you aren’t good enough to contribute. Then you never will be.
As you’ve described this “round table discussion” there isn’t a prize, you’re not eliminated or subjected to alien probes if you mess up. It’s a friendly discussion, albeit a professional one. I say accept the challenge.
i say go for it, the fear of looking stupid is just buying into the world’s appearance phobia anyway…
If you go, I think you’ll find that some of these Really Smart People may very well be quite intelligent, but mostly just know how to spin a really pretty yarn with big words. These people are often considered annoying, and in diverse situations like the one you’re given the opportunity to participate in here, very few things will get you more respect than good old fashioned honesty, and you’ve got that by the bucket load. Go for it. Just bring yourself, leave the expectations at home, and have a great time.
Hey Bill….I can’t this to work to well, it only played about half through…but Dude!!!! Why do you keep putting yourself down? I’m praying for you, please focus on what God wants to do through you…it’s not about you or your inadaquacy (?), it’s about God and He’ll meet you at the perfect time. Remember Mo? He was given the perfect words at the perfect time…He’ll do the same for you…You can ALL things through Christ who strengthens you! Now, go get um!

honestly, I can’t think of anyone better to do this than you Bill-b/c you are so humble is exactly why you are the one to do it. Humble doesn’t mean stupid, you are far from that!

Go for it! What have you got to lose? Be yourself and be sincere. That’s all you can be, and you’ll do do just fine. And even if you end up looking foolish, it will be a great experience, right? Just be okay with not being as smart or articulate as the PhDs. Anyway, who says you aren’t? After all, you’ll have Jesus on your side. And don’t take it upon your shoulders to “represent the Christian faith.” That’s just too much pressure. Just be who you are and tell them the truth the best way you know how. Have fun with it. You’re perfectly you! I’ll come and beat them up if they don’t treat you right.
