Many writers/bloggers sound like they have it all figured out. Unless I’ve somehow fooled you, I’m sure by now you know that I’m not one them.
The past two years of my life is all the convincing I need to know that God exists and God is good. I promise to eventually tell my story.
I am, however, real. I’m never, especially on this site, gonna sit here and pretend like this whole God thing is easy to follow or easy to swallow. I’m never gonna allow myself to be that Christian that believes just cuz he was told to believe.
I have so many questions about my faith. There are things in the bible, many of which have been pointed out on this site, that I’m pretty taken back by. There are many more that I don’t really even understand. In the bible,
- many times God seems mean,
- many times God seems unfair,
- and many times God seems, well…wrong.
I’m in no place spiritually nor intellectually to try to explain God’s actions. I am, though, looking forward to this journey for answers and the growth that will inevitably come along the way.
As I said, the past two years is all the convincing I need that God is real and God is good. I’m definitely looking forward to the next two.
Random notes:
- I shaved my head on Sunday. I have the most ridiculous hair ever. It’s straight, thin, full of cowlicks, and a lost cause. Peace out, hair. It’s been real.
- I’m about to eat leftover Chinese. Sesame Chicken - extra spicy.
- I’m finishing up [tag]In a Pit With a Lion On a Snow Day[/tag]. Great read.
- Next is [tag]I Sold My Soul On eBay[/tag]. Excited!
- I’m freakin ready for football to start. [tag]Michigan Wolverines[/tag] - January - National Champions. You heard it here first.
- I’m considering buying Madden for the [tag]Wii[/tag] tomorrow. Anyone else have the Wii?
Talk to me about Hemant’s book, football, the Wii, or give me hair advice. I’m all ears.
Later!

I like Richard Dawkins quote:
“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynist, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal. sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”
Knock Dawkins all you like but, by our 21st Century standards, God demonstrates that he is all the things stated above in the Bible. If I believed in him I think I would hate him.
Having may my position abundantly clear
I have a question for you: Putting aside the question of existence for the moment, how is it that you have come to believe God is good? What actions has he performed that mark his character as being benevolent to humanity?
I’m not saying this to flame you or put you down, I am genuinely curious.
Unfortunately I haven’t read Hemant’s book, I dislike football, have an X-Box and have long hair that I tie up out of the way. Sorry.
Hemant’s book is great - enjoy! I reviewed it a few months ago, here:
My Review Of Hemant’s Book
Longhorns are no longer in the NCAA? That’s your only chance Blue. You started it.
I play playstation 1 if I’m stressed but very rarely. I think Hemant’s book is great for people trying to see how a non-xian would interpret xianity. You’ll love the questions he asks because you will try to answer them. When you get to about page 142 you’ll understand one more reason I’m an atheist. I wish you’d just post your story. Here’s mine in one sentence. A philosophy class required the book “Twenty questions:an introduction to philosophy” and that book made me think about both sides of things from that day forward. Thanks professor Buenter.
hover - your quote -> question made me smile. “Here’s what I believe - BAM. Now what, Mr. Christian???” lol. I love it. I’ll answer it this evening.
Helen - I look forward to reading both the book and your review. Make sure to check out Helen’ site.
TX - dude…come on. Ya know what, no…I’ll just let the season speak for itself
Yeah, I’m pumped up about the book.
We will think, “Wish you were here, Bill” as we munch on apples and peanut butter while watching our beloved Wolverines BLAST through the season!
Congrats on the new approach to hair. My hubby keeps his in a short buzz, and our lives are better for it. With wacky hair, less is more!
Congrats on the bald! (bald is beautiful.
) I just wanted to let you know that I am enjoying reading your site… and I don’t read many Christian sites. =) Very cool… do keep writing! =)
Too blunt? I do that sometimes. :@)
No hover, it’s awesome. Forgetting beating around the bush. That’s for the birds.
Any web people know how I can fix comment #2? Apparently if there aren’t any spaces the text will run right through the limits of the div. I’d like to make it wrap to the next line.
Any suggestions? (edit - I’ve since changed the comment. The question still remains, though. How do I make a long link word-wrap in html/css?)
Oh, side note: my head isn’t bald. It’s just a #2.
I’m not that cool……….yet.
I have a Wii.
Not getting Madden, though. I’m not a football guy, let alone a videogame football guy.
Bill,
I’d love to kick your Michigan butt with my VT Hokies anytime … Oh, and I sport a #2 myself :d
Your post reminds me of a question I’ve long asked vocation directors and priests: “Is it a sin if I hate Notre Dame football?”
Keep being you, and Go Blue.
:)>-
P.S. Get Tiger Woods for the Wii. You’ll never need another game.
