Hey guys,
This August I will be traveling to Managua, Nicaragua with Seacoast Church to provide medical assistance to the local community. I will be traveling with a team of approximately 20 people and working closely with missionaries Nathan Babcock (FriendlyChristian.com guest author) and his wife Amber. We leave for Nicaragua on August 8th and return ten days later on the 18th.
In order to make this possible, we need to assemble a strong supporting team. People like you may life us up in daily prayer and/or give a financial gift toward the expense as we seek to serve God in this area. The total amount that I need to raise is $1,500. This amount included travel, expenses, food, lodging, and transportation.
I would appreciate your prayerful consideration of giving financially to help me meet this need.Â
Here are the two forms required to make a donation. Print each of them, fill them out as required, and mail them to the provided address.
Form 1 (MS Word format)
Form 2Â (MS Word format)
And for you anti-Microsoft types:
Thank you for your support, guys. You rock!

It sounds like a great opportunity to help people with their physical needs, but even more with their spiritual well being.
Hopefully your church can help you out through a door offering or some type of fund raising. I was in a similar position last year when I went to Ukraine, and only ended up paying a few hundred dollars out of my own pocket (or in that case, my parents’ pockets).
Matt,
Yeah, they sure will. We have a few fund raising activities planned.
I don’t want to sound like a meanie or a troll, but, I think the question extends more than that.
Even though Christianity doesn’t mean that you have to give up being happy and doing fun things, I’m pretty sure that it wouldn’t be okay to literally bath in money and do nothing to help others.
But then comes the more hairline questions. Is it okay for a Christian to buy a Playstation 3? It’s the newest most expensive within gaming. There are cheaper alternatives (a Wii) which could just as well keep you entertained.
What about buying a brand new flashy car? New HDTV? Blueray? There are cheaper alternatives that won’t make your life miserable, like a nice normal car, a normal TV set, a DVD player, etc.
Christians can use money on entertainment, but do you think they should buy the newest of the newest under any circumstance? When the alternative would be buying something slightly cheaper and perhaps donating the rest of the money to a much needed cause?
arg, the blog software screwed me over. This comment was meant for the next entry.
